SUMMARY

My various experiences throughout my high school career have helped me learn more about what I want for my future.  My talent and commitment have been sharpened through four years of three different Varsity Sports.  My leadership and impact were developed through the Boy Scouts, Literary, and various community leadership councils.  The service projects and mission trips through school and church, and my involvement in Scouts helped me realize that I love to build value for the future and to help others.

Thank you for taking a few moments to get to know the key elements that have developed me and set me on a path for college and a future career!

KEY ACHIEVEMENTS

My sports achievements demonstrate my hard work ethic and drive across 3 sports: Varsity Wrestling, Varsity Football, and Varsity Track.

  1. Varsity Wrestling - 4 Region Runner-Up Awards and 1 State Medalist
  2. Varsity Football - Region Honorable Mention
  3. 4 years - Varsity Football, 4 years - Varsity Wrestling, 1 year - Varsity Track

Boy Scouts has honed my leadership skills as historian, assistant senior patrol leader, Order of the Arrow Representative for Troop 65, and finally with my Eagle Scout Project and earning the rank of Eagle Scout.

Literary taught me the importance of communications and getting outside my comfort zone to improve myself.   I was proud to achieve Region Champion in Extemporaneous Speaking and to place two other times.

Academics are core to my drive to continually learn, and I was proud to maintain the Honor Roll and High Honor Roll throughout High School while taking every Honors Course available.

I was selectd as the Dublin/Laurens student of the quarter for Trinity for the 2017 fall quarter.

Leadership Development

My leadership and character have been further developed through three local organizations that select young people in the local community that demonstrate leadership potential.  These organizations exposed me to community leaders, service projects, and seminars that worked to develop my desire to serve in the future.

  1. Laurens Youth Leadership Council
  2. Morris State Bank Leadership Advisory Council
  3. Citizens Bank Leadership Advisory Council

ACTIVITIES

Through my 6 years with the Boy Scouts of America, I have learned the importance of community service, discipline, and the value of life skills.

  1. We were able to raise funds for a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Key West where my troop sailed for a week as the crew on a sailboat.  It happened to be during Tropical Storm Colin which added a little more adventure!
  2. My Eagle Scout Project provided a Drug Rehabilitation Center with an area for the residents to have their own  recreation area and throw horse shoes together.
  3. Additional Eagle Scout projects I participated in included cleaning gravestones in a church cemetery, building a concession stand for our football team, and building a butterfly garden in our city.

Mission trips and service projects in the Dominican Republic and the Navajo reservation in New Mexico provided a perspective outside my home town and a desire to learn and serve in more countries.

I am also the technology manager for the school praise band.  Yes!  Athletes can help make music in the band too!

WORK EXPERIENCE

Grosch Irrigation, Inc. - February 2018 -present -I approached the owner of the company and told him that I could do whatever he needed me to do.  I began work two days later, and I work everyday after school. I have assisted with moving and cleaning equipment and painting and other maintenance jobs.  I will eventually be allowed to go out in the field for this local well drilling contractor.

Dublin Country Club, May 2016 - September 2016

  1.  Organized games for the children
  2. Lifeguard for the Country Club pool
  3. Managed water quality and cleanliness of the pool
In the summertime, families only get a few chances to spend family time together.  Activities for the kids and pool time together are important times.

You would be amazed how much work goes into organizing activities and keeping that pool clean!

SERVICE

Volunteering at the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center taught me the value of service.

Serving the veterans was a unique opportunity to serve those who have served our country.

I was also able to help The local Habitat for Humanity build a home for a needy family.  This was a rewarding experience knowing that I was helping a family earn a home.

During November I served with the Boy Scouts of America in conjunction with the local RiverKeepers on a two day trip to clean trash out of the Oconee River.
